Entrée To Asia is a multipart cooking and travel series based in Asia. But this isn’t just any cooking show. It’s travel television with a bite! Among the many things that make Entrée To Asia distinctive is that our combination host-chef and tour guide, Thomas Robson, is a young North American who just happens to specialize in Asian cuisine. When we combine Thomas’ food expertise with his knowledge of the area, and sprinkle liberally with exotic, desirable locales, we create a truly entertaining and informative look at Asia.
What emerges in each video from our stock pots, grills, ovens, tandoors and woks is a sense of the area’s hospitality; an understanding of its new-found attraction to travellers and tourists worldwide; a feeling for its culture and its history; but especially an affinity for the flavours and fragrances of its fabulous food!

It is also a series that recognizes the fact that every kitchen is different. So, we explore the diverse tools and techniques you can use to improve your cooking and entertain your friends. We explain the nature of good Asian cookery in terms we all can relate to – exploding myths, refining tastes, and providing easy to find alternatives to specialized ingredients.

By traveling to the actual locations where the traditional cuisines are created and savouring everything Southeast Asia has to offer, we invite you to experience an essential aspect of the varied cultures while you are at the same time being introduced to the many scenic locations. Imagine the Floating Market of Bangkok; the Night Market in Kuala Lumpur; Blue-Tailed Lobster and the indigenous seafood of Thailand’s south coast; Rock Fish in Hong Kong; Spicy Fish Pickle (you read that right!) at a beach restaurant in Malacca, Malaysia; and on it goes.
This video series of twenty-six half-hour episodes and a one-hour documentary special (Entrée To Asia: The Golden Thread) has received worldwide attention. Originally, this was a TV series that played on public TV stations across Canada, on PBS stations across the United States, in several countries around the world, and many episodes formed part of the inflight entertainment on global airlines and cruise ships. We have received two Emmy® Award nominations – one for the documentary special and one for the series – in the Outstanding Educational or Instructional category.
