Entrée To Asia: The Golden Thread was originally produced as a PBS ‘Pledge Break’ special to introduce and launch the series. It is a one-hour ‘special’ containing some clips from the TV show itself, but mostly purpose-produced footage created just for The Golden Thread. This special episode was nominated for an Emmy® Award.

As part of the international broadcast roll-out of this series, we produced this five-minute ‘press release’ describing what the show was all about. Along with the pilot demo reel (and usually a particular favourite episode) this package would be delivered to a specific channel, and also to TV critics, along with a traditional press kit.

Pilot Episode ~ Demo

As with any television production a pilot episode, or ‘demo’, must be produced to show what is called ‘proof of concept’. This pilot is then utilized as part of the pitch process to potential broadcasters and underwriters. In the case of Entrée To Asia, this pilot secured the U.S. broadcaster PBS and several product sponsors.
